Special night viewing
2025.12/15-12/25
An exhibition of works created using the world's only original technique, "light carving," invented by artist Yurukawa Fuu will be held at Taizoin Temple, Myoshinji Temple, Kyoto.
During the event, the dry landscape garden (nationally designated place of scenic beauty) designed by Muromachi period painter Kano Motonobu and Nakane Kinsaku's "Yokoen" will be illuminated.
A fantastical space unfolds, where modern art emerges from the darkness and traditional Zen art intertwines. A landscape of light that resonates across the ages.
Enjoy the Kyoto nightscape enveloped in gentle light.

Inside the building, we will be exhibiting the "light carving" works of Yurukawa Fuu, who is the only artist in the world to create works using this technique. Light carving is a work of art created using foam insulation ( Styrofoam) used inside the walls of buildings and LED lights illuminating it from behind.
The surface of the insulation was scraped and melted to create irregularities that give it the appearance of floating in three dimensions, and the blue light it emits is fantastical, as if it were drawing you in. As it is a work that uses light, it will be exhibited in a dark place and will be held inside Taizoin Temple at times that are normally closed to the public.
